The Lion's Gateway is a spiritually charged event that happens every year on August 8, when the star Sirius aligns with the Sun in Leo. It is a time of power and initiation when the incoming energies support breaking of old patterns and cycles, and opening up new levels of consciousness as well as abundance. This painting was completed in January of 2017, but it wasn't until the Lion's Gate event of 2020 that I understood the deeper significance of the image. 
 
Mother Mary is traditionally portrayed as trampling on a serpent, representing Satan. This image invokes a more ancient understanding of the snake as symbolic of the life force and healing. Here, Mary becomes a living Caduceus, radiating Divine feminine grace and a balanced and harmonious female energy. This piece supports inner peace and purification in harmony with Nature. 
 
Standing on the upturned (receptive) moon and haloed with the sacred Star of David representing supreme balance and divine unity, Mother Mary symbolizes fully balanced Divine Feminine power and the ability to master the emotions in the service of Higher Consciousness. The snakes as a primal force have been uplifted and transformed into a healing force and powerful protectors. The relaxed lion at her feet can be seen to represent the ego, tamed. It may also symbolize the Christ essence.
 
At her breast she holds the Dove of Peace, which represents the Holy Spirit - indicating that the transformation that has taken place can only occur in the alchemical chamber of the heart.
 
To me, this represents Victory Consciousness: the ability of a pure soul to maintain a vibration capable of holding to the Truth while simultaneously standing in Compassion, to such an extent that it upholds the life force. As such, it is a vibrational influence that facilitates transmutation - the shifting of destructive forces into constructive power.
